The Story of Aya
September 25, 2013
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.
-Nelson Mandela

I am attending a Regional ECE Experts meeting, along with a meeting of the World Forum Global Leaders from the Arab Region, in Abu Dhabi in the UAE.  One of the major topics of the meeting is the devastating conflict in the Syrian Arab Republic that has forced one million children to flee their homeland.  Making the point of the tragedy more effectively than any of the Ministers and NGO leaders was this short UNICEF video  about eight-year-old Aya who hasn’t been to school in two years while she and her family live in a refugee camp in Lebanon.  The Lebanese government is making heroic efforts to support refugee children, but is totally overwhelmed by the numbers.

Thank you for letting us know about the missing quotes. A glitch in our computer system wasn't including them for a few days.

Where are the daily quotes and words of wisdom I look forward to in Exchange Everyday? I rely on them to give me (and other staff) something to think about, perspective on life, and miss them. PLEASE BRING THEM BACK!

I really miss the quotes that previously appeared at the top of each email. I noticed this week that they have disappeared. I hope you will consider bringing them back.

Thank you,
Susan
